They came at night
In the dead of dark
With a shimmer of light
To ignite the spark
New tongues move
Building something greater
So do we march now
Or prepare to swim later?
Another year
Another terrible drought
She said:
"Why sit inside when all hope has run out?"
It’s just the future of history after all
So do we strike now
Or prepare to lose the war?
Each and every step
Sinks deeper in the mire
We need to act
Like our house is on fire
Fill the barrels up
Stack them ever higher
We need to act
Like our house is on fire

A fantastic album. I can see why they didn't continue under the name The Evens, as it's a different sound with the bass added. Coriky is the Evens + Joe Lally from Fugazi on bass. If you can imagine The Evens with a slightly more funky, aggressive sound like Fugazi... that's what you get! And there's no way that can ever go wrong. What a great debut album!! smiledozer

Terrific, marauding post-punk that will thrill fans of Idles with its pairing of cutting riffs and wry spoken/sung lyrics. Bandcamp New & Notable Mar 26, 2022
